brevity
‘stuck in gravity’ by of monsters and men has been in your head for two weeks. you always thought the lyric was ‘i’m looking for some brevity.’
you just looked it up. it’s actually ‘i’m clawing for some bravery.’
you’ve been dropping words from your prose, your emails, even your messages. part of trying to be less intense. though you found it hard to let go at first, you figured people don’t want to read so many words when a few will do.
instead of filling their eyes with black or white text, or pushing them toward a conclusion, you’re trusting that those around you will pick up what you mean.
it’s spilled into your real-life conversations too. where once you’d jump in or cut someone off, now you wait. your eyes say you care before your voice does - or does not.
and it’s working. you’re doing more with less.
you’re a little disappointed the lyric wasn’t brevity - but bravery fits just as well.
because it takes bravery to listen. it takes bravery to write less - and it takes bravery to trust.
